Songvo

Questions

If yours is not here, ask us and we will add it.

Getting started

Is Songvo available yet?

Not publicly. We are in development and working with a small group of players and gear owners first. Write to us and we will add you.

What does it cost?

Listing is free. Booking carries a service fee that starts at twelve per cent and falls to six once you have ten bookings with the same person. Songvo+ is a subscription that removes the service fee and raises the protection cap.

Which cities?

We are starting in a small number of places rather than launching everywhere thinly, because a marketplace with four listings in your city is not a marketplace. Tell us where you are and it counts.

Renting gear out

Do I have to show my address?

No. Your gear appears as a circle on the map, and the circle is not centred on you. The pickup address is released only to the person whose booking you have confirmed.

Why does a listing need two photographs?

Because one photograph is the flattering one. The second is where the wear is, and a hire that starts with an honest photograph almost never ends in an argument about a scratch.

What happens if my gear comes back damaged?

There is an inspection window after every booking. Inside it you raise the problem with the photographs from handoff, both sides respond, and the protection cover applies up to the declared value. After it closes the booking settles.

Does my home insurance cover this?

Almost certainly not. Most homeowner and renter policies exclude property rented out for a fee, because that is commercial use. If your gear is genuinely valuable, carry a separate instrument policy. Songvo's protection sits on top of your own cover, never instead of it.

Can I block out dates?

Yes. Mark the days the gear is away or you are using it, from the listing, and nobody can request them.

Booking players

How are players ranked?

By distance and by standing, not by who paid. Standing is built out of bookings actually completed, and it is visible on the profile so you can see what it is made of.

What is the difference between a rating and reliability?

A rating says how good somebody was. Reliability says whether they turned up, cancelled late or no-showed. Keeping them apart is the point: they answer different questions and you may care about them differently depending on the gig.

Can I filter by who somebody is?

There are optional fields for pronouns, gender and ethnicity, and they can be searched, because bands are sometimes put together on exactly those lines. Every one of them is optional, they are answered from fixed lists rather than free text, and a birthday is only ever shown as an age.

Safety and privacy

What does verification actually check?

It is a ladder: email, then phone, then government ID through our identity provider, then a trusted tier earned by completed bookings. Each rung unlocks more rather than locking you out, and we never see or store the document itself.

Do you check for stolen gear?

Serial numbers are hashed and checked against a register of reported thefts. We cannot catch everything, but a serial that turns up on the register stops a listing.

What do you do with my location?

We hold roughly where you are based so we can show you what is nearby. It is stored to the neighbourhood, not the street, and it is never shown to anybody else as anything but a distance or a circle.
